Hi all! I know it’s been a minute since I last posted but I was working on some goals and needed to go all in. That said I took a little break from social media updates and blogging but I’m back!
During that mini-break I did continue taking my brain to the gym and this post is all about the great reads I completed to this point. This is the second post I’ve done on books for business and self-growth. The first post can be read HERE.

This book is for anyone trying to have authentic relationships with friends who will listen to your darkest thoughts without judgement and help you see things in a different perspective.

Drawing on the author’s experiences teaching millions of people around the world to live a rich life, this fast, easy read reveals how anyone—from millennials to baby boomers—can still make their dreams come true.
You know I believe a book was great when I purchase a copy for my son and his girlfriend to read! This book shows you that the sooner you start to save to richer you will be even if you don’t make a lot of money. It’s very easy to spend what you earn but this book will help you stop that habit.
The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance—What Women Should Know
by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman
Confidence. We want it. We need it. But it can be maddeningly enigmatic and out of reach. The authors of the New York Times bestseller Womenomics deconstruct this essential, elusive, and misunderstood quality and offer a blueprint for bringing more of it into our lives.
I actually started listening to The Confidence Code for Girls on Youtube for free until I realized it was the version for teenagers lol. I remember thinking the whole time, wow this would be great for my daughter and her friends lol.
Needless to say, that’s what happens when you try to be cheap. I bought the adult version and am so glad I did. Super helpful book in helping to build confidence and the reasons we may be lacking in having it.
Turning Pro: Tap Your Inner Power and Create Your Life’s Work
by Steven Pressfield
The follow-up to his bestseller The War of Art, Turning Pro navigates the passage from the amateur life to a professional practice. “You don’t need to take a course or buy a product. All you have to do is change your mind.” –Steven Pressfield TURNING PRO IS FREE, BUT IT’S NOT EASY. When we turn pro, we give up a life that we may have become extremely comfortable with. We give up a self that we have come to identify with and to call our own. TURNING PRO IS FREE, BUT IT DEMANDS SACRIFICE. The passage from amateur to professional is often achieved via an interior odyssey whose trials are survived only at great cost, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually. We pass through a membrane when we turn pro. It’s messy and it’s scary. We tread in blood when we turn pro. WHAT WE GET WHEN WE TURN PRO. What we get when we turn pro is we find our power. We find our will and our voice and we find our self-respect. We become who we always were but had, until then, been afraid to embrace and live out.
One of my favorite authors who all of the mentors I have online read. This book makes it super clear that in order to truly change and reach your highest potential you MUST let go of the limiting beliefs holding you back. You will not grow without change, my friends!
Do the Work: Overcome Resistance and Get Out of Your Own Way
by Steven Pressfield
“There is an enemy. There is an intelligent, active, malign force working against us. Step one is to recognize this. This recognition alone is enormously powerful. It saved my life, and it will save yours.” — Steven Pressfield Could you be getting in your way of producing great work? Have you started a project but never finished? Would you like to do work that matters, but don’t know where to start? The answer is Do the Work, a manifesto by bestselling author Steven Pressfield, that will show you that it’s not about better ideas, it’s about actually doing the work. Do the Work is a weapon against Resistance – a tool that will help you take action and successfully ship projects out the door. Picking up where The War of Art and Turning Pro left off, Do The Work takes the reader from the start to the finish of any long-form project—novel, screenplay, album, software piece, you name it. Do The Work identifies the predictable Resistance Points along the way and walks you through each of them. No, you are not crazy. No, you are not alone. No, you are not the first person to “hit the wall” in Act Two. Do The Work charts the territory. It’s the stage-by-stage road map for taking your project from Page One to THE END.
Pretty much get out of your own way, sit your @ss down, and literally DO THE WORK, and then you will experience massive growth and results beyond your wildest dreams. Clearly, I LOVE this author’s body of work!
Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead
by Sheryl Sandberg
Sandberg is chief operating officer of Facebook and coauthor of Option B with Adam Grant. In 2010, she gave an electrifying TED talk in which she described how women unintentionally hold themselves back in their careers. Her talk, which has been viewed more than six million times, encouraged women to “sit at the table,” seek challenges, take risks, and pursue their goals with gusto.
Lean In continues that conversation, combining personal anecdotes, hard data, and compelling research to change the conversation from what women can’t do to what they can. Sandberg provides practical advice on negotiation techniques, mentorship, and building a satisfying career. She describes specific steps women can take to combine professional achievement with personal fulfillment, and demonstrates how men can benefit by supporting women both in the workplace and at home.
Written with humor and wisdom, Lean In is a revelatory, inspiring call to action and a blueprint for individual growth that will empower women around the world to achieve their full potential.
Mindset: The New Psychology of Success
by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D.,
After decades of research, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D., discovered a simple but groundbreaking idea: the power of mindset. In this brilliant book, she shows how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. People with a fixed mindset—those who believe that abilities are fixed—are less likely to flourish than those with a growth mindset—those who believe that abilities can be developed. Mindset reveals how great parents, teachers, managers, and athletes can put this idea to use to foster outstanding accomplishments.
In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset. She also expands the mindset concept beyond the individual, applying it to the cultures of groups and organizations. With the right mindset, you can motivate those you lead, teach, and love—to transform their lives and your own.
Amazing read for anyone like me for all the years in the garment industry who did not lean in, ask for the raise or seek the promotion. You live and learn people!
What you will learn about fixed and growth mindsets from this book will change your life and perspective of people forever! Those limiting beliefs and egos people have and don’t let go up lead to a mediocre life. Personally, I’m trying to live to my fullest potential so I’m grateful to have discovered this book!

Copublished with the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) TheUntethered Soul begins by walking you through your relationship with your thoughts and emotions, helping you uncover the source and fluctuations of your inner energy. I heard Micheal Singer speak on Tony Robbins podcast episode HERE. After hearing that episode I bought and read the book and OMG this one is a game changer! One of the things he reminds us in the ending chapters is that in death we are ALL the same. Whether you are rich or poor, whatever your religion or race we are ALL THE SAME. Remember that and read this book which Oprah highly recommends as well.
