It has officially been one week now since I’m gone from the day job as a Children’s Wear Designer. So aside from the obvious, which is my friends and co-workers, here are the office essentials I may need to break down and purchase for my home office.
LOVED the desk lift and naturally had to have it after my son told me he had it at his job. Just tell the owners that your ass is getting flat from all the sitting you do and they will get it for you because they have no idea what to say to that lol. Side note since I left I think at least another 3 or 4 were ordered! Also perfect for those with back issues. I had the Large 37” version but if your space is smaller then the 32” option is great too!
AmazonBasics Premium Anti-Fatigue Standing Comfort Mat for Home and Office – 20×36-Inches, Black
If you get the lift desk trust me you need this too or your back and feet will hurt from standing. This is also a great support if you wash a lot of dishes too.
Quartet Glass Dry Erase Board, Whiteboard / White Board, Magnetic, 4′ x 3′, White Surface, Frameless
This was absolutely great for hanging all my boards so I had a visual of everything I was working on. I used it as a magnetic whiteboard but it would be great for writing too!
These were the perfect strength to hold multiple pages and added a much-needed pop of color!
Set of 12 Magnetic Dry Erase Markers with Eraser Cap Tips.
I like that these have the built-in eraser and have them at home as well.
EXPO Low Odor Dry Erase Markers, Chisel Tip, Assorted Colors, 16 Pack
If you prefer the thicker markers these are great also!
Oscillating Ceramic Space Heater with Adjustable Thermostat
An awesome mid-size heater that worked perfectly to keep me warm in the freezing office space we had. Don’t tell Maria but I was so cold today I ordered one of these for my home office today!
There you have the things I miss most about the Day Job! While I loved designing clothes throughout my twenty-three years I have to say I am super excited for my career in Interior Design. The garment industry is very much computerized these days and I’m super excited to be back working more hands on with all the materials available. Today I visited Gabby at Nash Granite and Marble which was awesome and super informative! Can’t wait to use their materials in an upcoming project!
